When a study is requesting some sources of data to be collected automatically during your participation, they can specify whether collecting that data is mandatory or optional. If your Data Source page looks like this, it means all these data are mandatory, and as part of your participation, you are required to provide all these data.
If one or more data sources are marked as optional, you will see a switch next to them under Data Sources tab, where you can turn them off or on.
Keeping the switch on (the default behaviour), allows Ethica to continue collecting data from that data source, while turning the switch off will stop data collection.
Unlike Pausing Study Participation, turning a data source off from here is permanent. The data source will not switch back on until you explicitly turn it back on again.
If you are participating in more than one study, and you turn off a data source which both studies collect data from, Ethica stops collecting data from that data source for both studies. You cannot turn off a data source for one study, and keep the same on for another study.
