While you are participating in a study, if Ethica detects any obstacle in the study operation, it informs you about it and helps you to resolve the obstacle. One of these obstacles are related to the studies which require monitoring your app usage statistics.
Some studies require to monitor statistics on your app usage. In other words, they need to record how often you use what app. Ethica by default does not have the permission to record this data. In order to do so, you need to explicitly allow Ethica to have access to these information.
If you are part of a study which requires monitoring app usage statistics, but you have not granted Ethica with the required permissions to monitor app usage statistics, you receive a notification similar to the following:
In this case, pressing on Permit access opens Android Settings where you can give this permission to Ethica. This step can look different on different Android phone, but usually you should be taken to a page similar to the following, where you can set this permission for the app called App Usage Statistics Stream:
