While you are participating in a study, if Ethica detects any obstacle in the study operation, it informs you about it and helps you to resolve the obstacle. One of these obstacles are related to the studies which require monitoring Wi-Fi networks in proximity. Some studies require monitoring Wi-Fi networks in your proximity. These studies cannot see the data being sent or received by you over the Wi-Fi network. They only can see what Wi-Fi networks are available (e.g. "Toronto Library Wifi", or "My Home Wifi").
If you are part of a study which requires monitoring surrounding Wi-Fi networks, but your Wi-Fi is turned off, you receive a notification similar to the following:
In this case, simply tap on Turn Wi-Fi on and Ethica will turn your Wi-Fi back on.
You don't need to be connected to any Wi-Fi network. As long as your Wi-Fi is on, even if it is not connected to any network, Ethica can perform the requested data collection.
