There are two types of accounts in each study. This document describes the role and permissions for each.
Participants
Participants can:
- Use Ethica app to participate in a study.
- Login to the website to:
- See the list of the studies they are participating.
- Delete part or all of the data they have collected, if they don't feel comfortable with providing that data.
- Perform actions related to the study which has to be done via the website (can vary for different studies).
They cannot:
- Start a new study.
- Join a given study as a member of the research team.
- Access data collected by other participants in any study.
Researchers
Researchers can:
- Start a new study.
- Invite other researchers to join their study.
- Be invited to join other studies.
- Access de-identifies data from participants in their studies.
- Monitor and manage study participation.
They cannot:
- Participate in any study as a participant.
- Login into Ethica app for Android or iOS (these apps are intended for participants).
Any account created in the app is by default a Participant account, though users can choose they want to create a Participant or Researcher account when creating their account on the web-site. A given account is valid on both the web-site and the app, regardless of how it's been created.
